DAS Storage (Direct Attached Storage) Solutions
DAS storage adds capacity straight to a server or workstation, without a network in between. It is the simplest and most affordable way to give one system more space and speed, and we help you pick the right enclosure, drives and RAID level for it.

Overview
What is DAS storage?
DAS storage, or direct attached storage, is storage connected directly to one computer or server through a cable such as SAS, SATA, USB or Thunderbolt, or fitted inside it. Only the host system can use it, unless that system shares it over the network.
Because there is no network hop, DAS gives low latency and predictable speed at a low cost per terabyte. It suits single servers, video editing workstations, backup targets and small offices that do not yet need shared storage.
- Direct connection for low latency
- RAID support for speed and drive protection
- No network setup or extra licences
DAS Options
DAS storage options we supply
Internal server drives
Extra SAS, SATA or NVMe drives fitted inside your existing server bays.
External RAID enclosures
Rack or desktop enclosures with hardware RAID, connected by SAS or USB-C.
JBOD expansion shelves
Just a bunch of disks shelves to add large capacity to a server or NAS.
Workstation DAS
Fast Thunderbolt or USB storage for design, video and engineering teams.
Backup DAS targets
Low-cost disk targets for local backups before copying offsite.
Setup and RAID configuration
We install, configure RAID and test the storage before handover.
Compare
DAS vs NAS vs SAN storage
DAS
Connected to one host. Lowest cost and simplest, but not shared across the network.
NAS
A file server on the office network. Easy sharing for many users. See NAS storage.
SAN
Block storage on a dedicated network for many servers. See SAN storage.
How It Works
How we set up DAS storage
Check
We check your server or workstation ports, bays and current capacity.
Size
We choose drives, enclosure and RAID level for speed and protection.
Install
We fit, connect and configure the storage and move data if needed.
Test
We test performance and drive failure alerts before handover.
Why Tech Guru
Simple storage, set up right
Since 2016 we have supplied and supported servers and storage for businesses across India. We match DAS hardware to your host system so it works first time, and we plan RAID so a single drive failure does not cost you data.
- Compatibility checked before you buy
- RAID planned for speed and protection
- Enterprise and workstation brands
- Drive replacement and support under AMC
FAQs
DAS Storage FAQs
DAS Storage FAQs
What is DAS storage?
DAS storage, or direct attached storage, is storage connected directly to one server or computer, either inside it or through a cable such as SAS, USB or Thunderbolt.
What does DAS stand for in storage?
DAS stands for direct attached storage.
What is the difference between DAS and NAS?
DAS is attached to one computer and is not shared by itself. NAS is a file server with its own operating system that many users reach over the network.
Is DAS good for backups?
Yes, DAS makes a fast and low-cost local backup target. For full protection, keep another copy offsite or in the cloud.
Can DAS storage use RAID?
Yes. Most DAS enclosures support RAID levels such as RAID 1, 5, 6 or 10 to add speed, protect against drive failure or both.
