Enterprise Data Center Storage and Hybrid Storage Solutions
Enterprise storage has to be fast for today’s applications, safe for audits and affordable as data keeps growing. We design hybrid storage solutions around how your data is used: all-flash for busy databases, hybrid and object storage for large volumes, and WORM and tape for records you must keep unchanged.

Overview
What are hybrid storage solutions?
Hybrid storage solutions combine fast flash (SSD) and high-capacity hard disks in one storage array, and often extend to the cloud. Frequently used data sits on flash for speed, while older data moves automatically to lower-cost disk or cloud tiers.
For enterprise data centers, this gives most of the speed of all-flash storage at a lower cost per terabyte. We size each tier using real workload data, so you pay for performance only where it is needed.
- Flash speed for hot data, disk capacity for the rest
- Automatic tiering between flash, disk and cloud
- Snapshots, replication and backup built into the design
Our Storage Solutions
Enterprise storage solutions
We supply and support storage arrays and software from leading OEMs, matched to your workloads.
All-flash and hybrid arrays
Storage arrays with all-flash for the fastest workloads, or hybrid flash and disk for balanced cost and speed.
Software defined storage
Storage software on standard servers that scales out and avoids lock-in to one array vendor.
Object storage
Scalable storage for backups, archives and unstructured data. For cloud-based options see cloud storage.
Cloud-integrated storage
On-premise arrays that tier or replicate data to the cloud for extra capacity and disaster recovery.
WORM storage for compliance
Write once, read many storage that keeps records unchanged for audits and legal hold.
Disk and tape storage
Tape storage and disk backup targets for long-term retention at the lowest cost per terabyte.
Choosing a Tier
Choosing the right storage tier
All-flash
Fastest option. Best for databases, ERP, VDI and virtualisation. Highest cost per terabyte.
Hybrid
Flash for hot data plus disk for capacity. Best for mixed workloads and file shares. Balanced cost.
Tape and archive
Slowest to access but cheapest for long-term retention, backup copies and compliance archives.
Data Protection
Provisioning, backup and data protection
Provisioning
Fast, policy-based allocation of storage to servers and virtual machines.
Snapshots and replication
Point-in-time copies and replication to a second site for quick recovery.
Backup and recovery
Scheduled backups to disk, tape or cloud, with regular restore tests.

FAQs
Hybrid storage solutions FAQs
Hybrid Storage Solutions FAQs
What are hybrid storage solutions?
Hybrid storage solutions combine flash (SSD) and hard disk drives in one system, and sometimes cloud storage, placing frequently used data on flash and less used data on lower-cost disk.
All-flash or hybrid storage: which should we choose?
Choose all-flash for latency-sensitive workloads such as databases and VDI. Choose hybrid when you need large capacity at a lower cost and only part of the data is used heavily.
What is a storage array?
A storage array is a dedicated system with many drives, controllers and software that provides shared storage to servers over a network such as iSCSI or Fibre Channel.
What is WORM storage and who needs it?
WORM (write once, read many) storage stops data from being changed or deleted for a set period. Banks, healthcare and other regulated businesses use it for audit and compliance records.
Is tape storage still used by enterprises?
Yes. Tape is still one of the cheapest ways to keep large amounts of data for years, and an offline tape copy helps protect against ransomware.
