Data Center Architecture and Design Services
Good data center architecture decides how well your servers, storage and network cope with growth, failures and heat. We design the physical layout and the network topology together, from rack and power plans to leaf-spine fabrics and hybrid cloud links, so the facility you build today still fits in five years.

Overview
What is data center architecture?
Data center architecture is the blueprint for how a data center is built and connected. It covers two layers that must fit each other: the physical design (space, power, cooling, racks and cabling) and the data center network architecture (how switches, servers and storage talk to each other and to the outside world).
A sound design keeps traffic fast, avoids single points of failure and leaves room to add capacity without downtime. We document every choice in drawings and a design report, so your team and future vendors can follow it.
- Capacity planned for current load and three to five years of growth
- No single point of failure in power, cooling or network paths
- Clear drawings: floor plan, rack elevations and network diagram
Network Architecture
Data center network architecture
The network design decides how quickly data moves inside the data center (east-west traffic) and out to users (north-south traffic). We pick the topology that fits your size and workloads.
Three-tier architecture
Core, aggregation and access layers. A proven design for smaller and mid-sized data centers with mostly north-south traffic.
Leaf-spine architecture
Every leaf switch connects to every spine switch, so any two servers are the same number of hops apart. Ideal for virtualisation and heavy east-west traffic.
Clos fabric design
A scalable Clos fabric with equal-cost paths, so you add spine or leaf switches as you grow instead of redesigning.
Cloud and hybrid design
Secure links between your data center and public cloud, with consistent addressing and routing across both.
Virtual data center architecture
Compute, storage and network pooled through virtualisation. See our software-defined data center page for SDDC projects.
Redundancy and failover
Dual uplinks, redundant switches and tested failover so one failed device does not take services down.
Physical Design
Site, power, cooling and rack planning
The physical layer has to carry the load the network and servers put on it. We design each part with room for growth.
Site optimisation
Room selection, floor loading, access routes and space planning for current and future racks.
Power system design
Utility feed, UPS sizing, generator backup and dual power paths to every rack.
Cooling system design
Precision cooling and hot or cold aisle containment matched to rack density.
Security system design
Access control, CCTV and fire detection planned into the layout from day one.
Racks and cabinets layout
Rack elevations, cable routes and labelling that keep the room clean and serviceable.
Certification and inspection
Design reviews and inspection against the standards your auditors and insurers expect.
Green Design
Energy-efficient green data center design
Power is the biggest running cost of a data center. Efficient design lowers the bill and the carbon footprint.
Efficient layouts
Containment, blanking panels and airflow planning so cooling reaches equipment, not empty space.
Right-sized equipment
UPS and cooling sized for real load, not worst-case guesses, so they run in their efficient range.
Measured results
Power and temperature monitoring so you can track energy use and improve it over time.

Data center architecture FAQs
Data Center Architecture FAQs
What is data center architecture?
Data center architecture is the design of a data center’s physical layout and its network. It covers space, power, cooling, racks and cabling, plus how switches, servers and storage connect to each other and to users.
What are the types of data center architecture?
The common network designs are three-tier (core, aggregation and access), leaf-spine and Clos fabrics. On the infrastructure side, data centers can be on-premise, colocation, cloud or hybrid, and virtualised or software defined.
What is leaf-spine architecture?
Leaf-spine is a two-layer network where every leaf switch connects to every spine switch. Any two servers are always the same number of hops apart, which keeps latency low and makes it easy to add capacity.
What is data center network architecture?
It is the plan for how devices in the data center are connected: the topology, switching layers, routing, redundancy and links to the WAN and cloud. It sets how fast and how reliably data moves.
Do you provide a data center architecture diagram?
Yes. Every design includes a network diagram, floor plan, rack elevations and power and cooling layouts, along with a written design report.
Can you redesign an existing data center?
Yes. We audit the current setup, find the bottlenecks and single points of failure, and plan changes in stages to limit downtime.
